About Us You can check availability and book from the "Check Availability" page. Welcome to White House B & B and your hosts David and Lesley Prag. Upper Shader is a small crofting community on the Westside of Lewis and is ideally placed for exploring the North and West of the Island. The Atlantic ocean is a 10 minute walk down to the bottom of our lane, where you can enjoy a coastal walk. Spectacular sunsets over the sea and sunrise over the Steinacleit stone circle can be enjoyed from our establishment. Nearby within a fifteen minute walk is Steinacleit, a neolithic stone circle and a similar distance in the opposite direction, Clach an Truchal, the tallest standing stone in the UK. Stornoway (Ferry/Airport) is a 25 minute drive and Tarbert (Ferry) in Harris is an hours drive. We are on the bus route to North Lewis and Stornoway. Five minutes drive from us is the Borve House Country Hotel where you can enjoy a bar snack or meal in the restaurant at lunch or in the evening. There is a mini market with free cash machine and petrol station within a 5 minute drive. Eoropie, with its clean white sandy beach and popular tea room, is a 15 minute drive up the coastal road. Just five minutes drive further on lies the village of Ness with its harbour and white sandy beach. Not far from here is the Butt of Lewis lighthouse . The famous Callanish Standing Stones and visitor centre (with an excellent tea room) is a 30 minute drive by car. On the way stops at the Norse Mill, Gearrannan Black House village and Dun Carloway Broch provide a rewarding experience. There is off road parking and bicycles can be accommodated in our shed. We look forward to welcoming you to White House B & B. We are a no smoking establishment. |
